Bio
J.D. Fortune is the stage name of Jason Dean Bennison. He was born on September 1, 1973 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and raised in Salt Springs, Nova Scotia. His parents Craig and Sandra divorced while J.D. was still young. He has one sister, Sarah-Jane, and an adorable pug dog named Presley. Relocating to Toronto with his mother and sister as a teenager, J.D. has been on a rollercoaster ride ever since - a journey filled with much more than the normal ups and downs. From leaving high school early to take a job working in Canadian television to a short stint in the Army and alternately fronting a rock band called Juice, moonlighting as an Elvis impersonator and living in his car, J.D. has an abundance of life experience from which to draw. The body and mind discipline of martial arts keeps him fit and agile, while a strict vegetarian diet adds greatly to his outlook and health.
In 2005, J.D. was chosen to be on the reality television series Rockstar: INXS, which he ultimately won, becoming the new lead singer of the band INXS. He recorded an album with INXS named “Switch.” On the album, J.D. co-wrote three tracks: “Pretty Vegas” and “Devil's Party” with Andrew Farriss, and “Never Let You Go” with Jon Farriss.
Now in 2008, while INXS are on hiatus, J.D. is in the process of recording his first ever solo album, tentatively titled “The Death of a Motivational Speaker.”
